How to Order Flexible Moulding

BASE

If the base is being used as baseboard or as part of a crown detail on a wall, the flex base does not need to be pre-cast to any radius. They are sold as straight lengths and only total lineal footage is needed.

If the base is being used as casing the base must be ordered to the radius (as described in the “Casing” section).

If base is being used as part of a crown detail where it lays flat on the ceiling — not on the wall — the information described in the “Crown Build-Up” section must be provided.

CASING
Minimum Length per Radius is 6´

When ordering true half circles, order by radius (½ of the diameter) or by diameter. Please make sure to specify “Radius” or  “Diameter” when ordering.

When ordering arches, please state “span and rise” (ie: 21˝ span x 6˝ rise).

When ordering an ellipse or an oval, you must always provide a template. When ordering an oval, you must also specify ISR (convcave) or OSR (convex).

HALF CIRCLE

Length = Radius + Width of Moulding x 3.145 ÷ 12

For Full Circle Multiply Half Circle Footage by 2

ARCH

Casing: Length = Width + Height + 6˝ ÷ 12

Crown: Length = Width + Height + 12˝ ÷ 12

ELLIPSE

Need Paper or Cardboard Template

OVAL

Need Paper or Cardboard Template.

Specify ISR (concave) or OSR (convex).

We manufacture the flex so that the seems are in the middle as shown for easier installation.

CROWN
Minimum Length per Radius is 6’.

When ordering flexible crown, the following information must be included in the order:

Does the wall curve inside (concave) or outside (convext)? What is the radius of wall — ISR (inside radius), or OSR (outside radius)? What is the length of moulding needed, allowing length for waste, to cover the entire area? How many pieces are needed?

CROWN BUILD UP
Minimum Length per Radius is 6’.

When creating a crown build-up, the follwing information must be considered when ordering each piece:

If the moulding is going to be used on the wall: order as straight.

If the moulding is going to be used on the ceiling: order as an ISR (concave) or OSR (convex) radius.

On an OSR radius, you must add the projection of the crown to the ceiling moulding radius. For example, a wall with a 60˝ radius used with a crown with a 4½˝ projection, requires a ceiling moulding with a 64½˝ OSR.

On an ISR radius, you must subtract the projection of the crown from the ceiling moulding radius. For example, a wall with a 60˝ radius used with a crown with a 4½˝ projection, requires a ceiling moulding with a 55½˝ ISR.

CONCAVE — ISR
Inside Application
CONVEX — OSR
Outside Application
PANEL OR LINEAL MOULD

When ordering panel or lineal moulds to be used horizontally on a curved wall, straight lengths are necessary. Provide total lineal footage needed.

BACKBAND
Minimum Length per Radius is 6´

When ordering backbands, provide the radius of the main casing backband is to attached to, the type of curve (arch, ellipse, half-circle), and information described under Casings. Also, the moulding number, specie, length and count.
